Air Grover
Specific Type: Force 190
|
Opened in 2010 with the rest of the Sesame Street attractions, which included The Count's Zambezi Rally and Zoe-patra and the Hippos of the Nile, Air Grover is a Zierer "Force-190" model family roller coaster. The new small roller coaster, located betweenSheiKra and Gwazi to the left from the park entrance, is a clone of Grover's Alpine Express which opened at Tampa's sister park inWilliamsburg the year before.
Air Grover is themed to the Sesame Street character, Grover. The queue begins under the lift hill and winds its way up to the station. The train's design is very unique on this coaster. Grover is seated up front with his goggles and scarf, while the back of the train is reminiscent of a back of a biplane. The color scheme is a bright green track and sandy tan supports. The ride begins with a drop and a U-turn. After cresting the twenty-four foot high friction wheel lift, the train dives down as Grover flies at dangerously low altitudes and at a speed of twenty-seven miles per hour. Then Grover flies through a helix which leads into an airtime hill, followed by another helix to end the ride. Exiting the last helix, the on-ride photo is snapped to capture the laughter or tears in the kids' faces. |
