Specific Type: 10 Inversion Coaster
|
Altair is a star in our sky that is one of the brightest shining, and also one of the closest to Earth. Altair CCW-0204 is an Intamin multi-inversion looping coaster, it has a dizzying ten inversions. The first coaster to feature ten inversions was Colossus at Thorpe Park, and Altair CCW-0204 is a slight variation of Colossus. The ride’s plot takes place in the future 4,000 years after humans evacuated Earth. Humans left Earth in the late 22nd century to colonize thirteen planets of Alpha Centauri. The Altair CCW-0204 is the first ship to go back to Earth. They find a new lush Earth inhabited by a race of sentient insects. It is unclear where these beings came from, did they come from space or evolve on their own? One thing is sure now you are the aliens.
The station is built to look like the Altair CCW-0204 spaceship and the trains load inside the craft and depart from the forward section directly onto the lift hill. The lft system uses a cable lift and train make their way to the top of the 108.3 foot tall hill swiftly. The main drop is steep and banks hard around to the left completing nearly a 180 degree turn at 52.8 MPH. The train skims the ground and lines up for the first inversion, a tall vertical loop. The train takes a small hop and dives into a trench and tunnel, when the train bursts into the light riders soar up into a cobra roll. They dive into another trench tunnel pull up and to the right as the train transitions into a double corkscrew. After the train snaps out of the second corkscrew the track sends the riders around a banked turn 180 degrees lining them up for the signature element a quadruple hartline roll. The maneuver looks like a twisted piece of ribbon from off of the ride, a near impossibility, but on the ride it looks like the world is spinning around you. If you can tell which way you are heading after being twisted four times in a row you will cruise around a long sweeping turn to the left and then though one more hartline roll for good measure before hitting the brakes and reentering the spaceship shaped station. The ride almost dares you to see if you can walk a straight line to reenter the queue. |
