Specific Type: Wilde Maus - Large
|
In 2002 Kings Dominion added a new coaster that the whole family could enjoy called Ricochet. For the 2018 season the ride received a new paint scheme and name, Apple Zapple. The name and paint job fit in with a renewal of the entire Candy Apple Grove Section of the park The ride has a familiar wild mouse layout, however it was specially designed by Mach Rides for large parks, and unlike other similar models this wild mouse starts with a drop before going into the signature hairpin turns these style of rides are known for.
Once the guests make their way through the queue line that travels under the track of Apple Zapple, they walk up to the station and board the car. As the car leaves the station, it does a 135-degree turn and starts up the lift hill. Once the cars reach the top of the lift, they do another 135-degree turn that brings them up to 50-foot drop. The train reaches the bottom of the drop, it immediately comes back up and goes into a sharp turn. The riders then go through a series of thrilling hairpin tight turns. The feeling of the car possibly coming off the rails is a illusion cause by placing the front wheels in the middle of the car, so the front goes beyond each turn. Once through the first series of hairpin turns, the riders then go through a small dip that leads into a turn-around. The riders roll through the turn, and enter into another set of tight turns. After a few more quick turns the car travels back to the station after a thrilling three minute ride. Why not try it out? Apples are good for you. |
