Boomerang: Coast to Coaster
Specific Type: Boomerang
|
One of the most numerous coaster types in the country is the Boomerang class coasters located in multiple parks throughout. There are different types of these coasters, from inverted, facing, and even sit down style. One of these sit down style coasters is Boomerang: Coast to Coaster located at Darien Lake in Darien Center, New York. This boomerang coaster is a shuttle looping coaster that only has one train and is one of only five still operating in the United States under this style. The coaster was built in 1998 and opened in May of that year for guests. The coaster was manufactured by the Vekoma Company for around 4 million dollars. The name Boomerang comes from the ride cycle in which the coaster runs. The train is pulled up by a lift chain and then released as it flies back through the station and completes the first run. At the end of the front cycle, the train is caught and released again to go through the cycle backwards. So, now that you know the story of the coaster, join us in a virtual ride on this exciting Boomerang.
As guests enter the queue, the coaster roars overhead as it goes through the cycle. The teal and white coaster track pops in the skyline as you navigate the teal steel gates leading up to the station. When its your turn to board, you step into the teal and yellow train, pull down the OTSR and get ready to be pulled backward up to the top of the first hill. As the train is being pulled, look out on a great view of the park. At the top, the train locks into place and then the wait. The coater is then released and you scream down toward the station. You fly through the station and into a cobra roll. As the train exits the cobra roll, it then enters a massive vertical loop. The train exits the loop and you are taken up to a break on the other side. The train then is released and you scream back down doing the same cycle backwards. The coaster roars through the station to slow down and is then slowly lowered back to the station for the exit. The next time that you are in New York, check our Darien Lake and ride Boomerang: Coast to Coaster. You will not want to pass up this chance on such a classic coaster. |
