Have you ever wondered what it would be like to throw a shrimp on the barbe? Well to be honest, you can just get a shrimp from the store, throw it on your backyard grill, and it would be the same thing. My point is, wouldn’t you rather be doing it down under? If you are thinking about going to the big island continent, make sure you stop by and visit Dreamworld; the largest amusement park in Australia. The park, located on the Gold Coast, is full of fun and excitement for every member of the family. The park is well known for their waterpark and exceptional thrill rides. In the late 2000s, the park announced plans to create a big group of rides that would take the park to the next level. In 2010, one of those rides that were announced was BuzzSaw. The roller coaster was to be designed and built Maurer Söhne and be added to the Gold Town section of the park.
Buzzsaw is classified as a Sky Loop X-Coaster and is one of the largest inversion coasters in the world. BuzzSaw has a maximum height of 152 feet and a track length of just over 490 feet. Where the coaster is not an extremely long ride, it makes up for that with excitement and thrill. The coaster reaches speeds of up to 65 mph. The signature element of the coaster is an inversion that is 152 feet above the ground. This makes it the tallest inversion in the Southern Hemisphere and the third tallest in the world. The coaster boasts one train that can carry a load of 12 passengers. The coaster is heavily themed after a sawmill during the days of the Gold Rush and Timber industry in Australia. Come with us now as we take a virtual journey on BuzzSaw. As guests enter the queue area, a station looms ahead with saws turning and the sounds of blades are all around. As you reach the heavily themed station, the train arrives with the last run. You enter the train, pull down the lap bar and secure it tightly. The train is then connected to a chain and you are lifted vertically out of the station and straight up 152 feet in the air. The coaster then completes the heartline roll and speeds down the other side at 65 mph. The coaster races through the station and back up the other side. The coaster barrels backwards through the station and up to the top once again before speeding through once more. As you propel the lift side, the coaster is caught by the chain and you sit idle looking straight up. The chain lowers the ride back into place and your 50 second ride has come to an end. |
