|
In 2010 Coney Island was in the process of being restored, rebranded, and reopened. This strip of sandy shorefront had once been the heartbeat of the thrill industry, but despite being the home to historic rides the area had gone into disrepair. Zamperla was chosen as a partner to help restore the park and it became a test bed and showcase for their numerous rides and attractions. One of these prototypes was the speedy coaster a coaster that can be enjoyed by young children and their parents. Luna Park named this attraction Circus Coaster and is adorned with bright colors and a clown face on the lead car. The compact design of the coaster allows it to fit in a small footprint but offers more elements and action than the family gravity coaster the predecessor model.
When the lights are swirling all around and the wheels are rolling on the ground, this coaster has all the excitement of when the circus comes to town. The ride begins with a turnaround out of the station that faces the train towards the 29.5 foot tall lift hill. On your climb on the left there are lighted archways and a great view of the classic Deno’s Wonder Wheel. At the top of the hill there is a turnaround before the main drop where the train reaches its top speed of 18.6 MPH. The track leads the train back up and into a helix spiraling back down to the ground. At the bottom of the helix the train goes over a quick bunny hop, and a banked turn brings the train back to the station, but the train just rolls through and takes a second lap. |
