Disney California Adventure ParkLocation: Anaheim, CA

There is so much to do and see in the Golden State of California, and Disney had the idea to put the best of California into one park. Eventually that plan came true, but took a few years for the patrons to see what was right in front of them. Disney's California Adventure is a park unlike Disneyland, but not beyond the magic of Disney.
As the Walt Disney World Resort began to take off, the West Coast and poor Disneyland felt left out. With the popularity of Epcot, the imagineers at Disneyland originally planned Westcot, to be built on the Disneyland parking lot. The project however never took off, and was eventually cancelled In 1995. During a weekend in Aspen, Colorado Michael Eisner and his fellow executives came up with a park idea based on the history of California. With that, Disney's California Adventure Park was born. On February 8, 2001, Disney's California Park opened to the public. As with recent Disney Park openings the crowds weren't very impressive. Some complaints were that there were not enough attractions, lots of empty areas, and worst of all there was no berm. Outsiders could see in, and park guests could see out which quickly took away the magic. California's Adventure is separated into seven districts each having a little bit do with the state. With some old favorites like The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Muppets Vision 3-D, and Toy Story Mania. New attractions such as Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!, The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure, and many others this park has something for everyone. DCA has two different roller coasters. The first is a wild mouse coaster called Goofy's Sky School, where you take a ride and see if you can pass the test. The second is California Screamin' which launches riders through a slew of twists and turns and into a full loop. By the time you get off of this ride, you better hope to not get sick on the boardwalk. Cars Land opened in 2012 which is based off of the fictional town of Radiator Springs from the hit Pixar movie Cars. Along with many new shops and restaurants included the main attraction Radiator Springs Racers. This ride uses the same technology found at Epcot's Test Track. Here you jump in and race threw the hills of Radiator Springs and see who wins the big race. As the second park in the Disneyland Resort, California's Adventure has had to work hard to find its footing. Enter the park thinking like Disney is taking you on a field trip through the state. You can sit back, relax, and take in a show like Aladdin the Musical, then glide threw the state on Soarin' Over California, and end the night with the spectacular evening show World of Color. Take it all in, and realize that Disney has yet another park to be proud of. |
