Hidden Mickeys: Animal Kingdom
Hidden Mickeys: Animal Kingdom / By: Matthew Rydzik, Wednesday, November 20, 2002 -
I know all you Walt Disney World goers have been wondering where those Hidden Mickey's are. For those of you who don't know a Hidden Mickey
is an image of Mickey Mouse concealed in the design of a Walt Disney World attraction (ride, resort, etc...). Here is a list of some of the
ones I know of:

»Animal Kingdom

-Tree of Life

•From the Tiger head if you look diagonally down to the right there is a Mickey head formed out of the green moss. You have to be standing on the bridge between the Oasis Gardens and Discovery Island to see it well

•The queue line at the base of the Tree, there is an octopus with tentacles spread out. The lower tentacle has suction cups that are showing the are two hidden Mickeys made out of the suction cups. One is near the end of the tentacle and the other is about 12 to 14 inches above the other one.

-It's Tough to Be a Bug!

•Where the wheel chairs wait in the pre show of It's Tough To Be A Bug there is a profile of a Hidden Mickey on the wall right past the doors entering the theater to the left

-Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends

•Pocahontas and Her Forest FriendsAt about eye level, on the right hand side of the mural coming off of the stage, in the painting of the dirt path, are three rocks making the design of our favorite mouse.

-Festival of the Lion King

•The bird house on the left as you go into the Lion King Festival has a Hidden Mickey in it. The opening is a profile of Mickey.

•In the Festival of the Lion King (FoLK) on the center stage platform, there is a hidden Mickey to the right of the stairs that face the Simba puppet. It is set into the "rock" of the side of the platform.

-Kilimanjaro Safaris

•On the safari, there is a large hidden Mickey at the flamingo pool. About half way through the ride, between one of the baobobs in center elephant and a watering hole, there is a flamingo island in the shape of the famous mouse. It might be covered by the amount of birds they put there.

•When you pass under the Elephant bridge you will see the red ground with footprints and tuskmarks, on the left hand side 3 footprints are apart and make a Hidden Mickey.

•After you pass the flamingo pool you will see large rocks with 'cave' drawings on them on the middle rock on the right is a Hidden Mickey etched into the rock.

•As soon as you pass the rock paintings and round the curve look over to your left. There is a large mud hole where the white rhinos usually gather. It is in the shape of a Mickey head.

-Pangani Forest Exploration Trail

•Along the Pangani Forest Nature Walk there is a dark room that houses the Naked Mole-Rat exhibit. On the ceiling are a series of small round spotlights. Three of these lights have been positioned to make a Mickey head on the floor of the burrough.

•On a map found just as you pass over the suspension bridge in the Gorilla Area, there is a Hidden Mickey.

-Kali River Rapids

•Right before the Kali River Rapids there is an enclosure on the right with monkeys, hanging is a clay pot which has a hidden Mickey cut out of the pot.

•In the queue line, when you enter the building and look at the large sculpture on your left with offerings, one of the offerings is filled with fruit. The hidden Mickey is comprised of one large fuit with two smaller fruits for his ears.

-Maharaja Jungle Trek

•Between the two tiger exhibits there you walk on a path that takes you under an arch that has a wall on each side. On the right hand side wall there is a mural of a tiger in a river. Look at the water in the river the hidden Mickey is made up of the waves/spirils in the water just under the tiger!

•On the first king on the left, his gold earing makes an upside down tri-circle Mickey.

-DINOSAUR

•There is a Hidden Mickey just as you enter the Building. There is a painting on the right wall with stuffed animals in front of it. Look at one of the last trees on the left in the trunk is a Hidden Mickey.

•In the pre-show movie presentation when the male doctor is interupted by the female doctor he sits down in the chair and when he does his head makes a Hidden Mickey with the view screens directly behind him.

•In the Countdown to Extinction Image Center, look closely at the mural. There is a Hidden Mickey in the first fold of the dino's neck. It is painted to look like a shadow and is very difficult to see.

•In the panorama if you sit on the rail and lean over under the water lilies, look up backwards and 3 water lilies will form a Mickey.

-Dino-Rama: Primeval Whirl

• If you look at the asteroids on the signs to Dino-Rama: Primeval Whirl, you will see the familiar three circles. For instance, there is one on the asteroid just to the right of the attraction's sign.

Stay tuned next week for Downtown Disney!
