Hidden Mickeys: Downtown Disney
Hidden Mickeys: Downtown Disney / By: Matthew Rydzik, Monday, December 02, 2002 -
I know all you Walt Disney World goers have been wondering where those Hidden Mickey's are. For those of you who don't know a Hidden Mickey is an image of Mickey Mouse concealed in the design of a Walt Disney World attraction (ride, resort, etc...). Here is a list of some of the
ones I know of:

»Downtown Disney

-Fun Fountains

•The Pop Jet Fountain beside Bay Clothiers at the Downtown Disney Marketplace actually shoots water up in the shape of Mickey's head every few minutes. You have to be quick in order to see it. Seen on Inside Out.

•At the main entrance there is a "flat" fountain (in warmer weather you can usually find kids playing in it), that is in the shape of a three-circle Mickey. It's easiest to see when either the water is shooting up or at night, when its lights are on. The fountain found in the Downtown Disney Marketplace actually shoots water up in the shape of Mickey's head every few minutes. You have to be quick in order to see it. Seen on Inside Out.

-World of Disney

•All of the columns outside the doors of the World of Disney have Mickeys on the very top.

•Many clothes racks have Mickey silhouettes engraved in them

-West End Stage

•I spotted a Hidden Mickey on the back/waterfront area of the West End Stage. As you are crossing the Bridge towards AMC theatres look at the back wall of the stage building and you will see three life preservers on the wall which form the tri-circle Hidden Mickey.

•As you are leaving Pleasure Island at the Westend three palm trees make a hidden Mickey. Look to the left as you go down the stairs next to the West End stage. You will see three palm trees. The tops of these trees make a hidden Mickey. The outer trees make the ears and the middle tree is lower and makes the head.

-Adventurer's Club

•In the Library, a Hidden Mickey is in the added woodwork on Fingers (the piano).

-Comedy Warehouse

•When you face the stage, on the right-hand side is a large clock on a bicycle wheel ("head") and Mickey Mouse Club drum along with a white and red spiral drum ("ears.")

•There is the sound and light tech booth on the left side . On the side wall of this booth is a round Mickey Band logo. The left ear is a Walt Disney World Railroad logo, and the right ear is an octagon which says "Slow 5 MPH."

-Cirque du Soleil

•We found Mickey in the rest rooms outside of the entrance to Cirque du Soleil. They are in the corner floor tile by the entrance door of both the mens and womens restrooms.

-DisneyQuest

•In the carpet on each level of the Quest has Mickeys in the Arabic script. Try to figure out what they mean!

•When you exit the elevators, look up. The track lighting is formed into three rings. There's the Mickey

•At the CyberSpaceMountain attraction, when you create a coaster, use the SPACE terrain and choose the slowest speed... there is a hidden Mickey and Minnie in the film! They are in the first tube-walkway you pass under(or over) while on the ride. It's easiest to see if you choose the slowest speed.

•The carpet in the Ventureport and FoodQuest have "calculus" formulas that refer to Disney in various ways. The most interesting one says "at DisneyQuest there is no canine pee (k9p), never, but there is a lot of fun, always."

-Wolfgang Puck Cafe

•In the reservation section at the entrance, look about 2 feet above the green shelf attached to the mosaic and you'll see a round white tile with two smaller round black tiles above it forming a Mickey head. The hostest confirmed I was looking at a hidden Mickey.

Stay tuned next week for Blizzard Beach!
