Interview with Paramount Kings Dominion
Interview with Paramount Kings Dominion / By: Clint Novak, Thursday, February 03, 2005 -
As the snow falls in Virginia, Paramount Kings Dominion is working hard to getting things ready for the 2005 season. Kings Dominion is the home to many prototype favorites like Volcano, The Blast Coaster, HyperSonic XLC, and Shockwave. Kings Dominion has always been the place to go to get the thrills first.

Recently Clint Novak had a chance to chat with Sarah Lovejoy about the 2005 season and the construction of the new Tomb Raider ride. Sarah tells us what’s going up, What had to come down, and how it all looks. You can here the whole interview in audio forum here.

Clint Novak: Hey what’s going on its Clint Novak from In the Loop, and I’ve got Sarah Lovejoy from Paramount Kings Dominion here to talk to us about the new rides going in down in Doswell, VA. How are you doing today Sarah?

Sarah Lovejoy: I am doing great Clint.

Clint: Ok. You guys are getting a new ride, why don’t you tell us about that.

Sarah: All right, we are introducing Tomb Raider, Fire Fall. Witch is an adventure attraction with is inspired by the Tomb Raider films and video games. It will deliver some great thrills, and combined with some great themed elements.

Clint: Alright, Where is the ride going to be located in the park?

Sarah: Tomb Raider Fire Fall will be located in the Congo section of the park. Right across from Volcano, The Blast Coaster.

Clint: Is there anything that had to be removed or relocated to add the ride?

Sarah: Yes before the end of the seasons last season we had to say goodbye to the Volcano grill. We took that out and that is going to be the site of Tomb Raidar Fire Fall.

Clint: Alright well that was the site I got my foot long hot dogs. So..

Sarah: Well will have other spots in the park to get those

Clint: If you don’t know PKD is my home park, so I am there all the time. Alright, when is the ride going to be open for the public?

Sarah: Tomb raider will open, opening day, March 19th

Clint: Are you guys going to do any special seating for the first ride? Or some type of preview?

Sarah: Yes, our first seating will go to our season pass holders. We are having a season pass holder preview event that will be Friday, March 18th from 5 to 9 in the evening before the park opens to the public. And that will be for Gold Season Pass holders.

Clint: Is there anything else happening for the 2005 season?

Sarah: We have lots of exciting additions for 2005. I think what is really exciting is we are getting Starbuck and Cinnabun in the park. They will be located on international street, so when you come in in the morning you will have all these great smells around you. We are also opening the park this year with the Nickelodeon parade with was a huge favorite last season. That will be weekends from March 19th though May 15th. We are also getting a new show in the Paramount theater, and that is going to be based on Paramount’s School of Rock movie, and that will be really exciting. I believe that opens Memorial Day weekend. We are also getting a new Meet and greet area. So lots of new things happing in the park.

Clint: Rumors are popping up for the Construction Tour coming up some time in February. Can you tell us about that?

Sarah: Yeah, we are inviting park enthusiasts for a constitution tour of the new ride’s construction site. That will be held Wednesday February 16th at 11AM

Clint: Will there be a cost for this?

Sarah: Nope this will be free. We will be meeting at security gate 2. If you are familiar with the park you know you will be going though the employee parking lot. You will then meet us and will walk down to Tomb Rader and take a look at it. Bring your camera, and dress for the weather. Were really excited about it.

Clint: You can get more info at Thrillnerds.com of the construction tour. Our good friends there have the info. Thanks for talking with us today Sarah

Sarah: We look forward to seeing every one on opening day on March 19th.
