Hersheypark 2007 Rumors: Part One / By: Josh Davidson, Thursday, June 30, 2005 -

In 1907, a small park for the workers of the Hershey Chocolate Factory and the surrounding public opened with mini-parks for children and benches for the adult workers to relax during breaks. Much has changed since that quaint park opened. The once-small park has grown into one of the best world-class theme parks in the world.
Hersheypark is what the small little park was renamed in the eighties was called is now a great theme park with ten world-class roller coasters featuring Storm Runner which was revealed in the 2004 season. Also the Great Bear which was revealed in 1998 was the first inverted roller coaster in Pennsylvania. Now that Hersheypark is getting very close to their 100th anniversary, one of the sections changed its name to Founder's Circle in honor of the person who started it all, Milton Hershey.
Now there are only two years left until 2007, the year when Hersheypark will celebrate the 100th anniversary. There have been many rumors about the park's future for the 100th anniversary. For the next two weeks read about all the top rumors about the 100th aniversary.
One of the biggest rumors happens to be the water park disscussion. Cocoa Bay, to be exact. Chocolate-colored water anyone? Some great things could happen to the Hershey complex with the addition of a water park. Just picture a lazy river with Chocolate all around you. Some ideas were to put the water park in the football arena near Hersheypark and move the football team to mid-Hershey. Thus, an indoor water park for Hersheypark.
Next rumor is the 8,000-foot long roller coaster. This has happened before; Steel Dragon 2000 is 8113' 2" feet - very long indeed. This seems like a bit more of a rumor that the park would need a lot of land for. If the park was to get this, it would be the longest roller coaster in America. Also it would probably have the biggest lift chain in Pennslyvania for it to complete all the track.
Next rumor takes us down. Down for a drop tower like AtmosFear at Morey's Piers at Wildwood and other recent S&S Power complexes. These type of rides can fit into limited places, making this a great type of ride to pick. The rides can bring you up and drop you or you can speed up and come back down to Earth. It is a fact that Hershey bought a drop tower from Miracle Strip, but no one knows where it is. Also it is very small so some people are thinking it could go to Dutch Wonderland, a park owned by Hershey Entertainment Group, the same company that owns Hersheypark.
Our last rumor for this week is a whole entire new area for the park. This might be good for the empty area in front of Lightning Racer. The only bad thing is that this area is limited in size. This area could be good for a coaster and some flat rides in the park.
That is all for this week. See you next week for the conclusion of the hot rumors for the 100th anniversary of Hersheypark.
