Hidden Mickeys: EPCOT
Hidden Mickeys: EPCOT / By: Matthew Rydzik, Thursday, August 15, 2002 -
I know all you Walt Disney World goers have been wondering where those Hidden Mickey's are. For those of you who don't know a Hidden Mickey
is an image of Mickey Mouse concealed in the design of a Walt Disney World attraction (ride, resort, etc...). Here is a list of some of the
ones I know of:

»EPCOT

-Spaceship Earth

•After Rome burns, you enter a room with four Middle Eastern men ("Jewish scholars") on the right. In front of them is a box with Hidden
Mickey’s as part of the design.

•On left side of car you pass the scene with the monks transcribing documents. The second monk is sleeping. If you look back as you pass
him you can see an ink blot in the shape of Mickey in the upper right hand part of the document.

•Going up Spaceship Earth, the scene on the left, before the telegraph scene on the right. On the table of the far left side of the scene there are three white paint can circles on the table which form a hidden Mickey.

•Alarm clock (on the dresser) in the teenage boy's bedroom.

-Universe of Energy

•After the dinos in the second part of the movie, there is a man who drives a tractor into a barn. When he comes out of the barn he is
driving a different car. As he is driving the car he passes a church. In the door of the church there is a shadow of the Earful Tower. It is
a little Hidden Mickey.

-Body Wars

•In the mural above the entrance, to be more specific in the green clump above the "Well & Goods" Store
A full-faced "Steamboat Willie" Mickey is painted clearly in the green broccoli like stuff in the mural.

•During the preshow safety video, you are told to stow loose items under your seat. The video shows a woman carrying a plastic WDW
shopping bag with Mickey on it and someone else stowing a paper bag, which also has Mickey on it.

-Test Track

•Mickey Pez dispenser in cup on workbench in area 2B.

•In the queue area Section 5B on the floor near the crash test dummy and car there is a coiling of wire or rubber tubing forming three
circles in the shape of Mickey's head and ears.

•Environmental Test: In the corrosion chamber (which is the third environmental testing chamber), there is a Hidden Mickey on the tank to
the left. It is a rust spot in the tri-circle form. My family was chosen to be on the special behind-the-scenes tour and our guide told me
that I was the first guest to find it!

•Barrier Test: You could have seen this one if you look behind you to the the car's left when you have your picture taken during the ride
right before the crash barrier but you probably are going too fast to see it. After the ride, like on so many others, you have the chance to
purchase a picture of yourself. Look on the top right of the picture. There are hoses lying on the floor, guess what shape they're in?

•Post Show: In the Test Track post-show, there is a factory exhibit. On the left at the exit to the factory, there is a "Just-In-Time
Control Room". At the far end of the control room wall, a status board has round magnets stuck to it, and one of the magnets has Mickey's
ears drawn around it.

-"Honey, I Shrunk the Audience"

•During the preshow, look at the little girl's dress -- there's Mickey’s on it.

-Journey into Your Imagination

•On the ride, Figment is resurrected and you get a look into his upside-down house. In his kitchen, look at the meal, Onion Rings on the
table make up a simple hidden Mickey.

•About halfway through the ride, there are tables with 3 spotlights illuminating them. One large, and two small spots on the floor below
the tables.

-El Río del Tiempo

•Arrangement of three clay pots in the market place scene.

•On the mural on the left side near the end of the boat ride is a picture of a boy holding two maracas slightly behind his head ...right
where Mickey's ears belong.

-Maelstrom

•In the mural, a bearded construction worker on the right side is wearing a Mickey Mouse watch.

•In the queue/loading area for the ride, look at the mural, the really tough one here is the stewardess with the clipboard. If you look
at her chest, her right, your left, you will see a Mickey profile in the shadows of her white shirt. He is a little distorted but definitely
Mickey... too close to be a coincidence.

-Dragon: Ruler of the Wind and Waves

•In "Dragon, Ruler of the Wind and Waves" exhibit, head found in clouds of a dragon mural close to tail.

-American Adventure

•In the lobby, painting of wagon train heading west-above the front leg of the foremost oxen.

•In the back of the rotunda on the first floor, as well as on the second floor, there are very large bronze eagle wall relief’s (approx. 4
feet wide by 6 feet tall). Each is framed with a series of alternating large and small circles with stars in them. At each corner, two small
circles and one large one come together to form a tri-circle Mickey.

-France

•Outside the entrance to France, there was a Mickey in the sculptured garden made of hedges.

•If you look at the grates that are at the base of the trees in France you will notice a Hidden Mickey.

Stay tuned next week for MGM's hidden Mickey's!!!
