The Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee is a wonderful backdrop for country music, wilderness lifestyle, and of course the famous Dollywood theme park. Dollywood and the surrounding area is a big destination for families, weddings, and anniversary getaways. One stop on your journey should be Dollywood, especially now with the new familt roller coaster that was added called Firechaser Express. Firechaser Express is the first ever dual launched family coaster in the United States. One of the most interesting things with this ride was the teasers and clues leading up to the announcement of the ride. The park had begun teasing enthusiasts and media long before the ride was announced with social media, videos, and other means of marketing. The park also used one word a day on the park website for fans to try and guess the name of the ride.
Firechaser Express was built by Gerstlauer and installed in the park by Ride Entertainment Group which takes care of all the Gerstlauer business in the United States. The theme of the roller coaster is based on volunteer fire departments that surrounded the Great Smoky Mountain National Park in the 1940s. The ride was built where the former Adventure Mountain attraction was located. Coaster Enthusiasts from all around the world and at any age will be able to enjoy this one of a kind ride. The ride will travel a distance of 2,427 feet with a top speed of 35 mph. There will be two Gerstlauer trains that have seven cars that sit two people abreast. Riders go through a themed queue line with interactive and visuals throughout. Once riders reach the station, they will board one of the trains and buckle in. The ride starts out with a launch that takes riders 0-20 mph in 2 seconds. The ride quickly twists to the right and left several times until it gets to the lift hill. The train slowly climbs the hill, and proceeds into a small curve drop. After the drop, riders will experience several camelbacks and eventually through a tower into several more camelbacks and curves. The train then turns to the left before heading to an s-curve and another tunnel. Towards the end the train will enter into a brake run where it will quickly launch the train backwards onto a different track where it slows down before leading into the switch track. Another train launches out of the station and as it passes, the train proceeds into the station for exiting. With the addition of Wild Eagle and now Firechaser Express, there is now a wide range of fun and excitement for every age group and thrill level. So whether you are looking for live entertainment, priceless food, or the thrills of a coaster, Dollywood is the place for you! |
