Nueva montaña rusa en 2007
14 de diciembre del 2005

Posted Image

■ UMWEBSITE.COM

I have heard many great things about this coaster. First of all, this will be a great addition for PortAventura. It's hard to believe they have not built a coaster since 1998. The trains for this Intamin Accelerator coaster will be shaped like airplanes and riders will not sit over the track. Riders will sit on the wings of the airplane in a row of two or three on each wing. These new type of Intamin trains are called Wing Walkers. Here's a design plan for the trains to this coaster. Also, here is a picture showing how it could possibly look in the park, (the coaster used in this photo is actully Rita at Alton Towers).
This coaster will launch at a speed of 83.9 mph which is faster than Xcelerator and Storm Runner. Also, this coaster will have a duration of 55 seconds which is longer than all Intamin Accelerator coasters except the new Speed Monster coaster opening in Norway and Xcelerator. So this coaster is gonna pack a pretty punch! :D
2010: Kings Dominion (All Year), Washington DC Pilgrimage, and Cedar Point.
2011: BGE (All Year), Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags America, Six Flags Great Adventure, and (possibly) Europe.
Overall Top 5: 1. Thunderhead 2. Kraken 3. Millennium Force 4. Apollo's Chariot 5. Maverick
Coaster Count: 102 - Griffon Count: 49 - Big Bad Wolf (1984-2009) - Great American Scream Machine (1989-2010)

Seems like a great coaster, those cars in that pictures look some what of the style cars that are used on xcelerator. Can't wait to hear more news on it.

That coaster is great! I wish I had a passport right now :( . The only draw back is I think the cars looks too much like Xcelerator. Loving to hear more.

The coaster sounds like it might be a ride with a similar design to Rita Queen of Speed.

For those of you saying the cars look too much like Xcellerator, that's because the picture is of Rita's cars! Obviously they don't have any pictures of the actual ride's cars, and someone already posted a diagram of what they might look like.

Yes, the pics are of Rita for all the people who didn't know that...

I wish more parks did the NoLimits-like-simulator for their new coasters, it really draw attention, in my eyes... :(

I didn't think it would be like Rita because of the picture. The article describes this new accelerator coaster with a layout that sounds similar to Rita's.

How could that picture be the ride when it is'nt even open yet.

So far, the ride is sounding hot. Those Wing Walkers remind me of X's trains.

In the passage that CCR posted, it sounds like this coaster might have a layout similar to Rita's.

Sorry if it came out wrong, I was just agreeing with momo1tx's post, about how the pictures were of Rita.

As for the layout, I believe it could be similar to Rita in a way, I just need to wait and see for myself.

I think it will be longer than Rita, and will have more height. Maybe it will have a similar layout to Superman, which just opened up in Australia...

Yes, I think are going to see an unique layout because of the fact it's duration is longer than most of the other Intamin Accelerator coasters. Rita is only 25 seconds long and it launches at a speed of 61.1 mph.
This Intamin Accelerator coaster opening at PortAventura launches at a speed of 83.9 mph and like I said the duration is longer. So by putting some of the statistics together I think we'll see an unique layout.
2010: Kings Dominion (All Year), Washington DC Pilgrimage, and Cedar Point.

I hope the ride has inversions where there are near misses and/or head-chopper effects.

Well I don't think many people have been following this coaster, but I certainly have. If you aren't sure what the layout is, it is basically a deformed figure 8, but a HUGE one. The first bend is a good 300ft in diameter, in a trench and you could almost fit Dragon Khan inside it, it then does a quick s-bend before hopping over the launch area, then into a high speed 'heartline' roll, down into a sweeping turn over the entry lake and into the breaks. It isn't that impressive of a layout, but it should be a pretty impressive coaster when done with the size of it, the theming and the terrain in the area.

As for an update, track and supports are now on site and a good number of footers are being placed. The huge trench has also been dug and you can see it in some pictures below...

Those show the track and a bit of construction from the PortAventura fansite.

There is also a shot of the trench Here

Oh, the rides name is Furious Baco too and will be themed to this mad wine maker or something.

Haha, slightly off the beat theme there, but the name sounds good, and it looks like the layout has been well planned, but in my opinion, PortAventura needed a new coaster, but I'm not too sure on a launching coaster, it seems a big jump from there previous coasters, I mean what have they got? Dragon Khan, Stampida (Duel woodie) , and Huraken Condor (Drop tower I think), they have only got three good rides really, so I will be watching this project from now on, because I'm not sure if it will fit in to such a vast area.

But when you come to think about it, its unique so it will probably work, I know that thousands of English tourists flock to Spain each year so I cant see it failing.. Hopefully it will release some more ride information soon.

The train cars look good! Not sure on the harnesses if its a launch coaster, but it could work.

Its funny, I was talking to my friend on here about the designers sketch, how are the passengers going to get on to middle seat? I'm guessing a platform that runs under the car, but still holds the track.

Well it sounds good, but I'm not so sure.

This coaster looks SO lame.

It's either going to work and be awesome or be utterly poo. It really is depressing how little effort in this things design has gone on. Simplicity is a marvelous thing, sometimes, but this.. eugh.

Port Adventura is a part i'm not overly fussed about. It a way, i see it in the same light as Alton Towers. There are other parks in the same country i'd rather go to. The place looks visually stunning and Dragon Khan does look like my kinda ride... What puts a block on my interest is that it has a lot of Alton's faults. And Alton's faults are big, bad, ugly ones.

It's size, for one... and it's lack of vast variety of rides and attractions.

This new coaster really is about as uninteresting as it gets. It's just eugh.

And it's theme? Jesus christ.

What a waste. This thing has nothing exciting for me and it might even be shorter then Stealth at Thorpe Park! Messed up ride. I wish there was more creativity on this ride. Like a few people have said, it's going to be like Rita. I'm glad I'm in America. :P

I was gonna translate that big paragraph about the coaster, but my spanish vocabulary is not big enough to translate it. ;)

quedarán colgados por los laterales de una estructura pegada a la vía de manera similar a los trenes de X, de Six Flags Magic Mountain, pero con asientos fijos. One part I think I can translate in that sentence is... ''similiar way of the trains of X, at Magic Mountain, except without the train features''
I'm not sure if they are talking about the new coaster or something else.

It is actually meant to be a 55 second ride, have a preshow and everything, and it is A LOT bigger than it makes out to be. I think I am the only person on here who has actually been to the park, and after seeing the plans for it and the landscape in real life, this ride IS going to be huge. Like I said, that first bend is at least 300ft in diameter and the ride itself looks to be a good 2000ft+ long. Yes, the layout is a bit boring, but if you think about it, they couldn't have a huge layout with loads of ups and downs because of the trains. The trains are going to be huge, and will also create a huge amount of drag, meaning it will probably creep into the brakes at a much lower speed than the launch. I admit though, they could have done a hell of a lot more, but the theming, terrain, size and trains should (hopefully) make up for it.

But as HAJiME said, it will either be a huge hit, or be crap. That inline twist will be pretty ace however.

I have to agree its ether going to be a big hit or a big flop. The rides layout is defiantly not looking like its alone going to make it a good ride by itself. But if the train design works right and gives the right effect it would defiantly add to the experience, and if they them it right then it should deftly add to the experience. This is defiantly a coaster that will have to be finished before we know how good or bad it will really be.

To bade there doesn’t seam to be an animation for this ride.

Life is like a roller coaster. It's one wild ride with many ups and downs and all you can do is hold on and enjoy the ride. ~CSF~

I'm sure some site will release an animation soon. But I doubt it will be on the actual PortAventura website.

I personally dont like the layout, because launches over curved tracks are lame and boring, twists, drops and hills are what makes a good launching coaster.

But maybe I'm saying this because of the bad layout, some designs work, some dont.

See, if there were a couple of good drops, twists (only one) then have the lame curved track it would make the ride so much better. You can still make a ride unique without having a unique design, and by the looks of it, this mad wine maker theme is as unique as you can get!
