Impulse at Knoebels in Elysburg is the newest coaster at the park. It was created by German manufacturer, Zierer. This coaster features 4 inversions; the only coaster at the park to take riders upside down. Unlike most coasters with inversions, Impulse utilizes lap bar restraints rather than over the shoulder restraints (OTSR’s). The ride will cover over 2000 ft of track in 70 seconds at speeds up to 55 mph. 3 cars that seat 8 people each, 2 rows of 4, will carry riders through the course.

The new coaster is billed as the largest investment in the park’s history. It fills a gap in the parks coaster collection of mostly wooden coasters. The park has been without a steel looping coaster since 2004, when Whirlwind was removed. The new coaster is situated near the Ferris wheel, in the location that was formally used by Bumper Boats & Boat Tag.

The ride starts off out of the station with a turn to the right leading to the chain driven 90 degree lift hill. The park elected the chain lift over a launched start to help build anticipation. Once making the 98 foot climb, riders will be dropped at a 90 degree angle. Once reaching the bottom, the train will start into an incline leading to a cobra roll, the first 2 inversions of the ride. Once completing the rolls, riders are sent through a loop. Upon exiting the loop, the riders are sent through a series of banked turn before entering the inline twist, making the 4th inversion of the ride. Once exiting the inline twists the train enters a 540 degree helix to finish the ride before entering the final brake run and station.
