The Netherlands, a country renowned for their windmills, language, and coasters? Walibi Holland has been through various names and companies throughout it’s history, from being a Six Flags park, to being a part of the Walibi park chain. And without a doubt this park has various legacies packed into one park. However, this presence of immense thrills and family classics cumulated  into what many would call a true nod to European Mack coasters, Lost Gravity.

Lost Gravity was installed in 2016 as a Mack BigDipper coaster themed to an area of the world where the Earth’s gravity has been lost and the area has been decimated. Littered around the coaster and queue are a downed helicopter, an abandoned school bus, and various decimated buildings virtually on their sides. Upon entering the coaster car, riders will notice that each car has two rows, each having four seats with lap restraints. Riders will then be taken up the 105 ft tall lift hill into the first inversion, the dive drop reaching speeds up to 54.1 mph. Immediately after this immense drop, riders go into a bunny hill that packs some excellent air time. Lost Gravity then takes riders into a curved hill, similar to a top hat, however is more curved and twisted. After falling from this drop riders again are taken up into another airtime hill which drops then rises back into a flat curve. This turn, while taken slowly, will curve outwards to bring some thrill before entering the midcourse brake run. Again, riders repeat another more smaller dive drop that passes a helicopter building. Circling this building while diving riders then will be lifted into a zero g roll giving the feeling of “Lost Gravity”. Riders then dive back down next to an abandoned school bus into another curved turn. Riders will then take on two last airtime hills before turning into the brake run. Like most European coasters, this coaster has a story that is woven throughout the ride through extensive theming; that even helps to shape the coaster’s layout where applicable. The next time you find yourself in the Netherlands, go out to Walibi Holland, and lose yourself in Lost Gravity.
