Opening up this Wednesday, May 25th, 2011, people who live around or near Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson , New Jersey will finally be able to ride the much anticipated new green roller coaster they have seen go up in the park's skyline over the last several months. The new Green Lantern coaster will be the 13th roller coaster at this Six Flags park. Although a new addition to Six Flags Great Adventure, Green Lantern is actually not a brand new roller coaster. It was relocated from Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, which has now been closed for two years, and was the subject of much debate as various entities claimed ownership to the ride, and various Six Flags park managers tried to make their case for it to be relocated to their park. The coaster operated at this park under the name "Chang" from 1997 to 2009. The coaster was then dismantled after closing and eventually moved to Six Flags Great Adventure. It was put back together again and lives on to thrill riders once again.

Green Lantern is one of the tallest and fastest Bolliger and Mallibard coasters in the world, reaching a top speed of 63 miles an hour, and a maximum height of 154 feet. The bright green track will twist and turn riders upside down a total of five times through a track total track length of 4,155 feet from start to finish in just two and a half minutes. Riders who have gotten a credit on Chang at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom will obviously be very familiar with its inversions, which start out with a 121 foot tall vertical loop, then a 103 foot tall dive loop, then into a 72 foot inclined loop, and finally finishing off with a couple of corkscrews. Green Lantern will be able to push through an amazing 1,556 riders per hour with its four across train seating.

Based off the popular DC Comics Green Lantern series, this coaster will be thrilling riders in its new location very shortly. Riders will get the definite and much anticipated thrill on this new park addition of standing while upside down.
