The 86-year old Big Dipper that used to call Geauga Lake home still has some hope that one day it may be saved. It ran for the last time in 2007 when Geauga Lake's amusement park section closed. Since then, it has been sitting defunct and exposed to the elements.

After the park closed Cedar Fair put Big Dipper up for auction. The coaster was bid on and won by a person who's identity remains a mystery. This person and his agent have recently been trying to sell the coaster, but so far the attempts have been unsuccessful.

But hope has not run out for Big Dipper just yet. According to wkyc.com the owner, who remains unidentified, is still receiving offers to buy the iconic coaster. The agent for the mystery owner is Tom Woosnam, and he currently talked to wkyc.com and lent some insight to what has been going on with Big Dipper.

Woosnam told wkyc.com that he is currently fielding offers from two parties that are interested in the ride. However, Woosnam did not give names for those currently pursuing the coaster.

This is not the first time that Big Dipper has generated some potential buying interest. According to wkyc.com, New Zealander Harold Garmonsway and Ohio college student Kat Jones were all set up to "rescue" the coaster in the summer of 2010. They had even gone as far as making the first down payment on the ride. However, in January of 2011 the duo announced that they were breaking the sale and walking away, leaving the fate of Big Dipper up in the air.

The most recent failed attempt at selling Big Dipper came from Brothers Vending based out of Puerto Rico according to wkyc.com. They desired to purchase the name, history, and design of Big Dipper, but they were content with abandoning the wood and building a new Big Dipper. It would have been the first wooden coaster in Puerto Rico, but the deal did not work out.
