© CarowindsA couple from Virginia has plans this weekend to get married at Carowinds before diving into their marriage at 75 mph. Glen Swearengin and Wendy Delp, from Christiansburg, Virginia, plan to have their wedding on Saturday, August 20, on the Intimidator at Carowinds, according to the Herald Online.
Just a little less than a year ago, on August 30, 2010, Glen "popped the question” to Wendy at the top of the lift hill while riding the Intimidator, at which point they became officially engaged. According to the Herald Online, Glen got the ring on her finger just before the first drop. Now, the couple is returning to their engagement spot for their wedding. Wendy told them “We aren’t the typical couple. We wanted to do something fun and something people will remember.”
The couple will stand on the steps of the Intimidator for the ceremony, surrounded by friends and family, before giving their ‘I do’s at around 9 a.m. They will then seal the marriage and celebrate the nuptials with a 232-foot drop, speeds of 75 mph, and numerous airtime hills while riding The Southeast’s tallest coaster.
