It has been quite the week for Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom as both Expedition Everest and the Tree of Life have made their way into the headlines. Unfortunately they are in the news for less than stellar reasons.

It all began a few weeks ago when a "branch" of the Tree of Life fell into an area in which guests were unable to access. The Tree of Life is man-made, so the "branch" that fell was an artificial segment of the tree designed to look like a branch.

According to DaMouse, Disney has recently reacted to this event by covering a mesh netting-like structure over top of all guest areas surrounding the tree. DaMouse is speculating that these nets may be a long term fix while the cause of the falling branch is determined and fixed. The nets are not the most attractive fix, but when it comes down to it guest safety is the most important priority.

In other parts of the park Expedition Everest underwent its own problems. The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that the coaster recently had a minor incident that closed the ride for over an hour.

A rainstorm brought high winds which lead to a light pole falling onto one of the coaster's cars. The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that no guests were taken to the hospital following the accident. However, the park could not say whether or not any guests were aboard the train when the pole fell onto it.
