The towering Pilgrim's Plunge will be closed for an unknown amount of time as Indiana tries to cure its water shortage.

Record high temperatures have certainly pounded the United States as of late. A week prior to July 4th as well as a few days after have seen the thermometers stretch to 100+ degrees, and parks have certainly been feeling the results.

Holiday World has had to abide by a Level 1 water restriction within Indiana, where reservoirs are short of water due to the combination of soaring temperatures and lack of rain. Due to that, they voluntarily closed Pilgrim's Plunge and will be re-directing the water normally used for the world's tallest water ride into their Splashin' Safari water park. The park also announced this on their Facebook page.

Pilgrim's Plunge is 135 ft tall with a drop at 45 degrees. The ride also uses an elevator lift which uses 2 lift platforms to bring boats up to the top. The ride is designed by Intamin.

Holiday World is also no stranger this season when it comes to water issues. Earlier in June, the park had to deal with water contamination issues, and to that end, the park purchased cans of Pepsi products and bottled water to hand out to guests. Holiday World is set up where soda and fountain drinks are free.
