© ValleyfairIt appears that Dinosaurs will be making yet another comeback, this time leaving their massive footprints up north in Minnesota. Valleyfair in Shakopee, MN has announced that for 2013 they will become the next recipient of Dinosaurs Alive! from Cedar Fair. The attraction is a “multi-sensory and interactive dinosaur park” that will allow park patrons to see life-sized animatronic versions of some of their favorite dinosaurs from 120-million years ago.
According to the park website, the version heading to Valleyfair will feature over 30 life-sized animated dinosaurs, spread out through seven “scenes” along a 2,837-foot path. While the attraction will of course feature some of the standard and most popular dinosaurs, such as Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, and Stegosaurus, the biggest of the bunch will be Ruyanogosaurus, standing 39-feet tall, 72-feet long, and 11.5-feet wide. Along with the dinosaurs and interactive displays to teach guests about them, there will also be a dinosaur-themed gift shop and a paleontological dig side for kids to dig up fossils.
The new expansion comes at a cost of $3.5 million, spread out over 5 acres of land. Dave Frazier, Vice President and General Manager of Valleyfair stated in the press release, “Dinosaurs Alive! is a perfect addition to Valleyfair’s extensive list of rides and attractions that are suitable for all ages…these life-like dinosaurs will bring science and technology together to not only entertain but educate our Guests.”
With the addition of the dinos, Valleyfair will be moving the catering area to the area currently occupied by Adventure Golf. The park will also be removing its Antique Autos car ride near the front of the park to make room for all the new dinos. Like with the other Dinosaurs Alive! attractions at various Cedar Fair park, guests will be able to view the dinosaurs for a small upcharge of approximately $5.
