Terminator 2:3D Being Terminated
Attraction closing at the end of the year

Universal City, California -
© Universal Studios HollywoodA notice posted backstage at Universal Studios Hollywood last week all but confirmed what many have been expecting for years. Screamescape posted an image of a backstage sign that had been posted backstage for Universal Hollywood employees confirming that Terminator 2: 3D will be closing in the near future.
The sign, which ask “Is Terminator 2:3D Closing?” as the Question of the Week, has the following answer: “Yes it is. After 13 years of thrilling our guests, T2:3D will celebrate its final performance on December 31, 2012. A new venue is in development for the T2 site and details will be shared in the coming months.” Apparently, the Terminator will not be back in 2013. Though an always popular ride, after 13 years of operating, the ride may have been showing its age after all this time.
Though not confirmed, it is expected that once the Terminator attraction vacates its home, the large theater will likely be turned into a clone or near-clone of Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem which opened at Universal studios Florida in June of this year. The park has not yet confirmed any details about what will be replacing the Terminator attraction, but with Universal’s recent trends, their own Despicable Me is certainly not out of the question. Theme Park Tourist also seems to think such an attraction could be used as a “stop-gap” while Hollywood waits for its own Wizarding World of Harry Potter to come together.
