Parc Astérix, a park located in Plailly, France, has become a park for thrills for all ages. Having coasters from far back as 1989, to coasters in the 2010’s, Parc Astérix has become a coaster haven for the French. This history of thrills has been coupled with the tradition of great theming and storytelling has created a well rounded park that continues to grow. This need for growth created a new coaster for the stories of Astérix in the distant land of Egypt. A new Bolliger & Mabillard Invert, OzIris.
Located in the Egypt section, OzIris is the only Invert in the park, and the only Bolliger & Mabillard coaster in the park. Riders will first enter the Egyptian queue showing tales of old with various Egyptian characters in hieroglyphic forms. OzIris commences with the Egyptian eyes flashing and riders making a small right turn into the 114.8 foot tall lift hill. OzIris then takes a curved drop reaching speeds up to 55.92 mph. Riders then are flung at high speeds into a small Dive Loop, flaring out into an inclined right turn. OzIris then will take riders into a Loop that leads into a small trench tunnel leading up into an Immelmann. Riders then drop and ascend in a right hand turn that leads into a drop into the entry pool’s tunnel. Through the mist below riders rush out into a Zero-G Roll flaring out into another right hand curve. Riders then drop left and flare out into another Zero-G Roll. OzIris then curves along the sands below to enter another curve around only to drop and ascend right into the final brake run. OzIris’ station and queue is themed to an Egyptian Pharaoh's tomb with the surrounding area to the Egyptian sands with sand colored rocks around the coaster itself. The next time you find yourself in the Egyptian oasis of Parc Astérix, experience an ancient force and take on OzIris. |
