Although the Virginia Beach area currently lacks a major park or coaster, thrillseekers can find a variety of rides and attractions near the oceanfront to check out.
Among the attractions is a 10-story SkyCoaster at the south end of the boardwalk, carousel and flat rides further up near Virgina Beach's fishing peir, and Virginia Beach Amusement Park across the street containing a dominating 165-foot tall Gravity Works Skyscraper, double-lift hill log flume, circular loop attraction, among other rides.
Just south of the downtown beachfront area is Ocean Breeze, a waterpark with a fair amount of attractions and the adjoining Motor World go-cart park which was the site of two small steel coasters up until 2001.
