Dudley Do Right's Ripsaw Falls

Islands of Adventure

Last Update: December 20, 2012

What's better than a water ride on a hot Florida summer's day? A ride on Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls. It is located in the Toon Lagoon section at Islands of Adventure. When Islands of Adventure opened up they needed a ride that would both entertain the guests and get them soaked. Well, Intamin AG delivered just that. Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls is loaded with theming, and packed with excitement. With the opening of it in 1999, Islands of Adventure brought the log flume to a whole new level. No log flume in the world can deliver a ride quite like Dudley Do-Right can. If you don't like to get wet then this is definitely not the ride for you.

Three modifications were made in recent years to the ride. In 2006, the final drop was made shallower, so that the ride was less intense. A year later, lap bars were added to the boats as an extra safety measure. An on-ride camera was also added recently.

On New Year’s Day 2011, a major fired occurred close to the ride. The fire was extinguished with no injuries or fatalities. It reopened on March 14th with the ride completely repainted and with all special effects restored.

You know what ride Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls is when you enter Toon Lagoon. You pass by many shops on the way to it. Another thing you will pass is Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges, which is another fantastic water ride that will get you soaked. Once you pass that you go take a couple lefts to find the entrance for for Ripsaw Falls, but you still have a lot of walking to do. The line may get pretty crowded some days during the summer, but it also moves fairly fast. Once you make it through the maze of lines you will see where you board the boats. Dudley Do-Right's boats are red logs that seat 4. Once you board the log you immediately enter a story of Dudley Do-Right. It's the classic tale where the evil Snidley Whiplash kidnaps Nell Fenwick. You follow the story through a couple drops that are just preparing you for the monster that awaits you at the end. Dudley finally rescues Nell from Snidely in the end, so everyone is happy, except Snidely of course. You reach the final lift and climb 60ft to the top. You do a 180-degree turn and you see what is awaiting you. There are flashing lights signs that read "Boom!" and "Crash!," you climb even closer to the edge, you grip tightens on the silver handles as you prepare to fall. You're close enough to see the bottom, you go over the edge and drop 75ft at speeds close to 45 miles an hour into the dynamite shack. You reach the bottom of the drop, head up a couple feet and drop one final time. You get drenched on Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls, which is the perfect thing for a hot day.
