Busch Gardens Williamsburg has a wide variety of rides and attractions including family rides and also extreme thrill rides. Busch Gardens has always received some of the most intense and exciting rides out there today. And with the somewhat recent addition of Apollo’s Chariot, Busch Gardens Williamsburg is definitely a prime destination for thrill-seekers. But thrill rides aside, one of the things Busch Gardens Williamsburg is most famous for is its amazing theming. With its beautiful landscaping and architecture, Williamsburg amazes guests of all ages everyday. Every newly added attraction doesn’t fail to please thrill-seekers and families alike. Almost every ride in the park has some sort of theme, and with the announcement of Curse of DarKastle, it doesn’t seem like Busch Gardens Williamsburg will lose their reputation of excellent theming anytime soon. Guests can already tell by the construction progress that this will definitely be a highly detailed and themed attraction. Construction began leaving bewildered fans wondering what the massive structure would be. Many thought it would hold an indoor roller coaster like “Revenge of the Mummy” found in Universal parks. But with the announcement of the attraction in fact not being a roller coaster, it left some fans worried. Will the ride be thrilling? Well it certainly seems as though it will.
On December 15, 2004, Busch Gardens Williamsburg lifted the curtain and announced that they will be releasing a high-tech new dark ride called Curse of DarKastle: The Ride. This innovative new attraction will use outstanding, expensive 3D effects and visuals throughout the 3 minute and 20 second long journey. DarKastle will incorporate the same style of effects as Spiderman at Islands of Adventure, but a completely different ride experience (Spiderman didn't curse the castle). The adventure takes place in a large castle that was supposedly “frozen in time” as the legend says. The castle will be extraordinarily detailed and the theming will be top-notch. Of course, the thrills will be top-notch as well because the ride incorporates fast-paced turns and sudden movements with the advanced special effects. This proves for an incredibly intense and fun ride experience that is sure to please thrill-seekers and families alike.
Brave guests will enter the grand castle from the Oktoberfest section of Germany. After waiting in the long, seemingly endless line, guests are inside the castle. Riders are treated to a minute and forty second long pre-show to prepare them for their dangerous and thrilling journey. After the pre-show, riders board eight-passenger cars decorated in brilliant gold paint. Once the operators check the restraints and the car has been dispatched, the journey begins. The cars make their way through the cursed castle’s chambers and corridors. Riders are treated with amazing 3D imagery and special effects that are sure to amaze and startle every one of the riders onboard. One of the effects includes a fast-paced chase scene that is sure to get everyone‘s adrenaline pumping. When the ride finally comes to an end, guests depart their car and run back to the queue entrance to wait in the long line again! Since the ride is so unpredictable, it will encourage more and more riders to get right back in line to experience DarKastle again.
Curse of DarKastle: The Ride is set to be completed in the spring of ‘05. DarKastle will definitely give Spiderman a run for its money since DarKastle’s theming is much more detailed. Those who have ridden rides similar to DarKastle know just how fun, thrilling, and intense the ride experience is, and those who haven’t yet experienced it have something amazing to look forward to this upcoming year.

I am probably one of the biggest BGW fans on this planet and when I finally rode Curse of DarKastle, I was very dissapointed. They already have two other 3D attractions in the park and this isn't really all that great. A lot of people think that they should try to build a new roller coaster soon.

I rode Curse of Darkastle the ride this summer twice and it is more hype than anything. The first time while you don't know what to expect it's ok with the visual effect but to call this a thrill ride is puzzling to me. This ride comes up short of expectations. They easily could have keep Wild Mous and I wouldn't have been dissappointed. When will they finally replace Drachen Fire. A good coaster with flawed design.

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! The way the sleigh spins is so cool! The special effects are so strange, you forget you are in the "real world." You fell as if you just slipped into a world of unknown!!!!!!

This ride is so scary!!! It is worth the 15-minute wait. I rode it 12 times. It has ghosts, quick turns and 5 feet drops. You should get on it.
