In the coaster enthusiast world, we are all aware of the many clones that are in existence throughout the world and it doesn’t show any signs of stopping. The most recent cloned roller coaster has taken flight in Holiday Park in Germany. When Super Vertabre was announced being closed and demolished in 2013, many were wondering what would go in its place. In August of 2013, the park announced that they would be building a LSM Catapult Coaster called Sky Scream. The interesting thing about this coaster is that is an exact clone of Superman: Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in the United States. The ride was designed and built by Premier Rides at a cost of 8 Million Euros.
What makes this coaster different from the one in the United States is theming. Sky Scream is full of undead zombies and vampires and other things that would make a person scream. The coaster spans a track distance of 263 meters and has a maximum speed of 100 kmh. The coaster reaches a height of 45 meters and the ride lasts just over 1 minute. There is only one train as this style coaster can only execute one train operation. Journey with us now as we take a launched, virtual tour of Sky Scream at Holiday Park in Germany. As guests enter the modern station, this one is unique as it is situated in the middle of the boxed in ride and large enough only for one train. Riders step into the train and pull down the OTSR and prepare for launch. The train is launched forward and the train goes up to the spiral and then it rolls back through the station and picks up speed up the opposite tower. The train then speeds through the station picking up speed once more. This time, the train goes up the whole tower and spins to the top. The train then goes through an out of your seat barrel roll. The train then dips down, turns over and goes through an immelman loop on top of the station. The coaster then spins into a corkscrew and back through the station. As the train leaves the station and up the first hill, the brakes catch the train and bring it slowly back to the station. |
