Specific Type: Floorless Coaster
|
When Six Flags' Fiesta Texas jumped on the bandwagon of the floorless coaster frenzy of 2000 following the success of Six Flags Great Adventure's Medusa in '99, they decided to give some leeway to the inversions and now classic floorless coaster layout and deliver a record-breaker to coaster fans. They acheived that with Superman Krypton Coaster, still the planet's tallest, fastest coaster in the floorless category. Taking advantage of Fiesta Texas' rocky topography, cliffs and quarrys, Superman is a terrain-sytle ride and much more.
After riders take their seats in the 4-Abreast-rowed floorless trains, they depart around a 90-degree bend and hit the lift hill. Climbing right up and over the quarry wall, this Superman coaster may resemble Spiderman more than the former with it's red-on-blue paint scheme. At the top, riders begin the first Carousel-Curving dive at only 6-stories above the ground. But not for long. Trains then plunge the full 170 feet down to the bottom of the quarry and begin ascending into the 124-foot high loop with Superman standing proudly on top. Next, the course sends adventurers back up the cliff and around a 370-degree helix at the top, diving right back down after completing the maneuver. A Zero-G Roll follows immediately and sends the track twisting head-over-heels twice in the 8-story tall Cobra Roll. An uperwards S-turn leads into the mid-course block brakes but not for long. A pair of Interlocking corkscrews sends the superhero's trains into the final portion of the ride, concluding with a sharp banked 180-degree twist onto the brake run. |
