Canada’s Wonderland has been home to world class thrills, to classic family entertainment for decades. Canada’s Wonderland has something for everyone in the family, from world class thrill machines like Leviathan, to family fun like The Fly. However, one classic coaster housed in Canada’s Wonderland blends both thrills and family fun for all ages. Situated in and around the Wonder Mountain, this Mack Powered Coaster has become a family classic, Thunder Run. Thunder Run, themed to a mine train, has become an iconic classic family coaster as it twists around the mysterious Wonder Mountain. Will you dare to embark into the mysterious Wonder Mountain?
Exiting the station, riders are instantly whisked away into the coaster. Making the extended left, the coaster begins to take off reaching speeds up to 40 MPH, and heights up to 33 ft. The coaster enters into a mine setting as it enters into the mountain, going into the first helix. The helix is half in the main cavern area, and half outside as riders round back into the mountain. Riders then are whisked away into another curve that leads deeper into the mountain. In darkness, Thunder Run chugs through the mountain eventually leading into another helix. This somewhat lit helix is totally in the dark however, leading into the final straight passage with a canopy of lights above in the tunnel. Riders then arrive back into the station, however only to repeat the circuit yet again. This coaster has been an classic part of the park introducing families with an experience that could be fun for the whole family. As well, this coaster blends an outdoor experience and an indoor coaster experience blending both forms of coasters into one single coaster experience. The next time that you are in Canada’s Wonderland, ride the mine train on Thunder Road. |
