Parc Astérix has always been a park dedicated to bringing the classic stories of Astérix the Gaul to life in the form of visually appealing lands and thrills. In years that Parc Astérix has been operating, the park has diversified in what they have to offer for guests of all ages. So when Parc Astérix gets a family coaster in 2001, it is something that blends these two themes but with a twist. La Trace du Hourra became an instant classic in 2001 bringing in a new Mack Bobsled coaster to the park.
La Trace du Hourra, The Trail of Hurray in english, is themed around the first caveman to walk on two feet; of which the circuit is themed to a caveman’s happy trip on a dirt trail winding through the rocky crags of ages long past. La Trace du Hourra begins with a left hand turn into the 102 foot tall lift hill. Cresting, riders enter a small straight section before entering the first right hand curve down which transitions around into another left hand curve. Meandering through another right hand curve, riders then ascend into a brake run. La Trace du Hourra then curves left, then right into a small helix like element before ascending yet again into another brake run. Riders then meander left through a rocky arch cycling into another right hand curve back under the track and through the crags. La Trace du Hourra then goes under a bridge before ascending yet again into another brake run. This brake leads riders into a left hand turn into another brake to a turn and into the final brake run to the station. La Trace du Hourra reaches speeds up to 37.3 mph and was the only bobsled coaster at the park at the time of writing. The next time you find yourself in France, go to Parc Astérix to experience a prehistoric journey on La Trace du Hourra. |
