Europe is full of great parks and great coasters and one of the most appealing parks to enthusiasts is Efteling in the Dutch country of the Netherlands. Efteling is full of fun thrills and chills for all ages. One of the best coasters inside the park is also an indoor roller coaster called Vogel Rok. The name of the ride is derived from bird Roc from 1001 nights. The attraction was built in 1998 by the Vekoma company and cost almost 13 million dollars. One of the most intriguing things about the attraction is the theming and special effects throughout the ride and queue area. The ride has 3 trains with 7 cars each. The ride is very much like a Disney ride with the fact that it is has an on-board audio system that plays music and audio throughout the ride. The ride offers a maximum height of 82 feet with a speed of 42 mph
In 1999, the attraction was changed a bit with the additions of new theming and special effects. The trains would travel through the open mouth of a big snake. The bird had lights added to it and the queue area added windows so that guests would be able to see the coaster from the waiting areas. A laser show also was added to the waiting areas to show the story of Sinbad and the bird Rok. Join us now on a virtual journey through the land of the bird. As guests approach the building, they are met with a beautiful bird on the outside. As you enter the queue and waiting area, the story with lasers and lights plays around you and music amplifies the story. As you walk the corridors you eventually arrive at the station with classic lantern lights hanging above. The trains arrive to the dock and you enter the car and pull the lapbar down over you. The train heads off into the darkness and speeds down a left hand turn. The train continues to helix down toward the floor as the camera flashes taking your picture. The train rises slightly into a right banked turn into a right helix that was the same as the left. The train comes out of the helix and right into a snake’s mouth. The train enters the MCBR and then down a left hand drop and into a 720 helix to the left. The train finishes entering a tunnel that then slows the train down and into the final brake run. That was 1:33 of time well spent. |
