In the late 1990’s E&F Miler Industries were tapped to make a series of kid friendly roller coasters for the chain of Paramount Parks, that are now owned by Cedar Fair. In 1998 Carowinds installed Taxi Jam, in 2005 this taxi themed ride was given a new look and name. The ride now called Hey Arnold’s Taxi Chase was themed to the Nickelodeon character and show. After Cedar Fair took over Carowinds Nickelodeon was out and Peanuts was in, so the area around the ride was rethemed to Planet Snoopy, and the ride was repainted and renamed once more, this time to Lucy’s Crabbie Cabbies in 2010.
As the young passengers enter the station they can climb into the bright yellow taxi train. Once the train is locked and checked the taxi ride begins with a 15 foot climb to the top of the lift hill. The tracks bank to the left and drop back to earth at the maximum speed of 15 MPH. The taxi jumps over two airtime hills, before rolling into a left hand banked helix. On the other side the train continues over the bumpy course as the track continues to turn back towards the station. As the taxi pulls back into the station don’t forget to keep that meter running because you are about to make a second lap. After the taxi completes its second lap it is time to let the passengers out and collect a new fair. |
