Just two weeks after Cedar Point revealed details for Maverick, another park in the Cedar Fair chain has unveiled its own plans for a trip along coaster tracks leading back to the Wild West.
Salvation has come to fans of Valleyfair longing for a new, custom-designed ride to call their own with the announcement of Renegade, a Great Coasters International creation with the slogan, "Ride With a Vengeance."
Next season, Minnesota coaster enthusiasts will find a treat in their backyard when they discover 3,113 feet of wooden track twisting down an S-curving first plunge into airtime-inducing hills and winding, fast-paced fan curves to set this new ride apart from its traditional 1976 wooden predecessor High Roller, which features an out and back layout.
For a price tag of $6.5 million, Valleyfair is receiving the newest coaster from the industry's praised experts in wooden twister design, Great Coasters International of Pennsylvania.Renegade will sport that company's classic Millennium Flyer trains - open-sided, old-fashioned coaches designed to deliver the maximum sensual experience in riders' faces while flying along at 52 miles an hour.
Renegade is the first major custom-designed coaster to call Valleyfair home since Wild Thingdebuted in 1996 as Cedar Fair's second hyper-coaster.
The park is in the process of receiving permits to construct the ride.
