It’s too cold for roller coasters, but crews at Kennywood are still hard at work. The park shared a Tuesday transformation on Facebook, saying more than 500 feet of track on the Racer is being replaced.
Legoland New York is scheduled to open its gates this year. The 150-acre theme park is the first major theme park to open in the area in over 40 years. Construction is still ongoing on the park’s final touches as it nears competition for its 2021 grand opening. When it opens, it will be the largest Legoland Park ever developed by Merlin Entertainment. Located in Goshen, New York, it will be home to seven-themed lands and more than 50 rides, shows, and attractions for families with children ages 2 through 12, as well as a 250-room Legoland Hotel.
Six Flags Entertainment Corporation says it is planning to open all 26 of its amusement parks and water parks for the 2021 season, including five that were not able to operate last year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The company said it worked with epidemiologists to develop a reopening plan that "meets or exceeds federal, state, and local guidelines for sanitization, hygiene, and social distancing protocols."
The local group that owns the Kentucky Kingdom-Hurricane Bay amusement and water park plans to sell it to a "big player" in the theme park business after a punishing drop in business during the pandemic, state officials said Monday.
While state officials did not reveal the new owner, the operating company that plans to assume Kentucky Kingdom's lease on state property is registered in Georgia with an address matching that of Herschend Family Entertainment, which operates theme parks and other attractions in multiple states.

LEGOLAND New York is holding a new contest for one fan to become a part of the resort’s history by naming an iconic feature of the park.
If you’ve ever been to a LEGOLAND theme park then you may remember the prehistoric pals that stand at the entrance to welcome guests both young an old. These brick-built dinosaurs feature at many of the resorts around the world and that tradition with the newest LEGOLAND.
There have been a lot of projects progressing this year, including the Lost Island theme park.
Waterloo community planning director, Noel Anderson, said the construction team is making great strides. He also said he is excited about the opportunities the park will bring to the city.
"There will be 300 plus new jobs in the summer time, 30 permanent jobs," Anderson said, "but also the tourism aspect of helping the casino helping the water park in terms of bringing in more of a regional draw."
For the first time in 10 years, Silverwood is adding a new roller coaster, and construction has begun.
The theme park shared photos of pieces of the brand new track on Twitter Friday morning.
