Kennywood Unveils 'New' Old Mill Logo

WEST MIFFLIN, PA

Back in early March, Kennywood announced the return of the Old Mill ride. Since then, things haven’t gone as planned for Kennywood or anyone for that matter. Millions of Americans are asked to stay at home as much as possible and large gatherings like concerts, sporting events and amusement parks have either been postponed or canceled. That includes Kennywood, which announced earlier this month the season will be delayed.
Since preseason operations have been shut down they said they will not be ready to start the season on May 2, as originally planned. “While it’s too soon to confidently provide an opening date, please know we remain committed to opening Kennywood this summer for you to enjoy as soon as safely possible,” park management said in a statement.
While we wait for Kennywood to reopen, the amusement park released the new logo for the "new" Old Mill. The logo shows the “retro western theme” that originally debuted for the ride in the 1970s and was maintained until it became “Garfield’s Nightmare” in 2004.

So it turns out that theme parks really did predict the future after all.
It’s been a long-standing joke among fans that theme parks do a really bad job of predicting what the future holds for us. Disneyland’s vision of a tomorrow with personal jet packs and commercial flights to the moon never arrived in the present before becoming a relic of the past.
So which attractions accurately predicted our fate? The ones that didn’t really try.

Large gatherings of people are out of the question for some time in Pennsylvania, but Hersheypark is hoping they may be possible by early this summer.
While Hersheypark had canceled their Springtime in the Park season in mid-March, as of last week, no decisions had been made regarding the 2020 summer season.
Today, the amusement park released a statement saying that, while they are keeping the safety of their guests and staff as a priority, they are cautiously optimistic about opening the park for the 2020 summer season sometime near the beginning of June.
