I’m starting this off with a strange confession - I’m not really sure what Cedar Point’s food festival is called. It’s advertised as “Brew and BBQ” on the signage, the website and the event tickets, but on the front cover of the 2018 Event guide is announcement:
“INTRODUCING Hops & Hootenanny! Brew and BBQ is back with a vengeance this year in FrontierTown!”
Next week, visitors to Navy Pier will be able to pay tribute to a special invention. On June 21, Navy Pier will celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Ferris Wheel.
"It's exciting to be celebrating the anniversary and to be teaming up with Santa Monica Pier for this," said Payal Patel, spokeswoman for Navy Pier. "We decided to come together to have a summer celebration from the West Coast to the Midwest."
Just as Navy Pier has its Centennial Wheel, Santa Monica Pier in California has a solar-polared Ferris Wheel as one of its prime attractions.
Splash Away Bay waterpark at Quassy Amusement Park opens Category 5 Rapids – Extreme Waterslides.
Three new gigantic water raft rides with a combined length of more than 1,000 feet were constructed during the off season, bringing to 15 the number of slides in the lakeside complex.
The new slides were provided by ProSlide Technology, Inc., of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. ProSlide was the vendor for the existing 12 slides at the attraction, which was first introduced in 2003 as Saturation Station.
The largest of the three giant slides is Torent, a TantrumTWIST, also known as TORNADO, which accommodates two-person rafts.

The Valencia amusement park is making the rides Tatsu, Viper and Roaring Rapids available for one hour after the park closes as part of its Hot Summer Night celebration, from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, June 21.
DAYTONA BEACH, FL
The Volusia County Fire Department says that two people have fallen 34 feet from a roller coaster in Daytona Beach.
They say they got a call at about 8:31 p.m. that the incident was occurring at the boardwalk in Daytona Beach. One of the cars was dangling off the rails. Other people were stuck on the other carts.
The Gurnee village board will consider approving a $4 million tax incentive program for Six Flags Great America next week.
The money would help the park offset the $15 million in capital improvements officials plan to complete in the next seven years. Jack Linehan, the assistant to the village administrator, said Wednesday the money would go toward infrastructure work and security enhancements.
"None of this money is going toward rides," Linehan said.
Saint Louis, MO
A man from Illinois has been arrested for assaulting a Six Flags of St Louis employee wearing a Daffy Duck costume.
KSDK-TV St Louis reports police have launched an investigation after a 23-year-old man grabbed the bill of the Daffy Duck costume worn by one of the park’s employees.
The man, 23, who has not been formally charged, told police that he thought grabbing the bill of the costumed employee was OK because he saw other people grab it.
Six Flags Great Adventure's new gyroscope-themed thrill ride CYBORG Cyber Spin opens to the public on Wednesday.
The amusement park in Jackson, New Jersey says the ride is the first of its kind anywhere in the world.
It is also first ride themed to the DC superhero Cyborg. The Cyber Spin takes riders up seven stories as they're flipped around
