An image was posted on social media potentially showing the layout of a brand new roller coaster at Playland Park in Rye, NY. The new roller coaster is in the plot of land currently occupied by the park's Zamperla Volare Super Flight. The question should be will the park keep their flight theming and revive their classic Airplane Coaster? This classic coaster by Fredrick Church operated from 1928-1957 has been the subject of speculation before since it was well received at the time for its thrilling layout and fast pace. In 2013 noted modern roller coaster builder Great Coaster International cited this coaster as a big influence on their work and produced virtual POV and model based on the Airplane Coaster at Rye. If this information does signal future plans for Playland Park this could breath new life into a classic park on the scenic Long Island Sound with many renovations and improvements noted on the park graphic.
