Already being one of the most popular theme parks in England, Europa Park in Germany has opened up their new and exciting dark ride called Arthur: The Ride. This state of the art attraction is a unique suspended dark ride that was built in the new expansion of the park called Kingdom of the Invisibles. The area is themed after the Arthur series of books by Luc Besson. The area was announced at the 2012 IAAPPA conference in Florida and along with the dark ride, a carousel was also added. The ride was built in an area that was originally set for an indoor ride back in 2000 that never came to fruition. The ride was built and developed by Mack Rides and unlike many indoor dark rides, will suspend riders throughout the entire experience. The ride opened in April of 2014 and is rated as an excellent family attraction.
Riders will board one of nine trains with one car on each train. Riders will take one of 12 seats that are organized in three rows of four seats. The trains are suspended from the roller coaster track that hangs above. This ride cannot really be called a roller coaster as there is no gravity involved. The ride is powered within the train itself as it moves along the track. Riders will travel on 1,800 feet of track while moving through at least seven scenes. Some of the scenes will be inside the building while some will be on the outside. The ride begins with a spiral lift hill that takes riders up while gaining anticipation of where their journey will take them. Riders will experience animatronics from Life Formations and Heimotion. Riders will also feel the effects of 4-D with wind, water, and even scents throughout the ride. Arthur: The Ride was built under a 49 foot dome that encompasses an island with two streams. This is all part of the new themed area and is a beautiful new addition to the park. The next time that you are traveling in Germany, make sure you give Europa Park a try and catch the never ending adventures of Arthur: The Ride. |
