Specific Type: Inverted
|
In 1993 something new was planned for Six Flags Great Adventure, they were opening Batman: The Ride. This new experience was the first inverted coaster by B&M installed on the east coast, and would offer guests a brand new perspective on what a roller coaster could be. This inverted coaster would get you out of the box and allow riders' feet to dangle free. Dangling under the track became a big hit with guests, and this model became the second of an eventual eight B&M inverted coasters installed across the Six Flags chain.
Guests enter the queue through a gateway in a large stone gothic wall. The line loops throughout Gotham City Park, the park contains hidden speakers that allow the guests hear the ambient noise of a population enjoying a beautiful park, an observant guest may notice a plaque declaring the park was donated by Bruce Wayne. Eventually the path will lead guests to a construction fence and a hole that passes into a back alley full of trash and graffiti. The guests are now moving though the wrong side of the tracks as the roller coaster roars above them. Next they step into a storm drain that leads up and around to the station, or Batcave. Choose your row and step up into the seat, once the train is locked and checked the floor drops out and the climb up the 105 foot lift hill begins. Once at the top the train dips to the right and dives down with that now familiar B&M roar reaching its max speed of 50MPH. The train rips into the first inversion a vertical loop followed immediately by a zero-G roll. The track dips low to hug the ground and then skyward into a second vertical loop. Dizzy guests then bank into a hard left hand turn that brings them around an almost 360 degree helix, the track turns back to the right and lines up with a corkscrew. A hard banked U-turn lines the train up for the final inversion another corkscrew. The track turns once more to line up with the station and the break run. As guest return to the dark Batcave will they be brave enough to return again and fly like the Batman? |
