Specific Type: Swiss Bob
|
One roller coaster type that is everywhere in Europe is the bobsled track style and at Efteling they have an excellent version of their own. Located in the Ander Rijk section of the park, the Bob Track coaster soars and entertains guests of all ages as the trains traverse down the swivel bobbing track. The coaster was designed by Giovanola and was built in 1985 by Intamin. There are 8 trains for the attraction that can hold 6 guests each. The original inline bobsleds were replaced because of a capacity issue. The new sleds were themed with wood to fit the theme of the station that was designed for the Alpine Swiss. The original trains are now at Six Flags over Texas on La Vibora. The park also added softer wheels to the trains to fit the noise complaints.
Bob Track reaches a height of 65 feet and reaches a maximum speed of 37 mph. The coaster has a very classic bobsled track layout and spans a length of 1,778 feet. Join us now for a virtual trip down the Swiss Alps! Guests enter the queue area and follow the wooden canopy and head toward the Swiss themed wooden station. Riders enter one of the 8 trains and get ready for the sled ride of their life. The sleds slide out of the station to the left and hit the chain lift hill. As the sled reaches 65 feet, the sled hits the track and begins to slide. The train bobs to the left and then into a quick S turn. The train hits a small brake run and down another hill. The train then banks and turns left and straight into another S turn. The train straightens out once more, over a brake run, and then down the hill to the left and into a right large helix. The sled balances out, and over yet another brake run. The finale is upon you as the train banks hard to the right and then back to the left as the train hits the final brakes and back into the station. Next time you are at Efteling, make sure you take a ride on the Swiss Alps of Bob! You will never forget the ride. |
