Centi-SPEED
Specific Type: Big Apple/ Wacky Worm
|
Alabama Splash Adventure added Centi-SPEED, a Fajume Big Apple/ Wacky Worm, for the 2014 season. This popular kids coaster filled a much needed ap in attractions for younger guests. This particular coaster wormed its way down the Jersey Shore before landing in Alabama. It was first installed at Gillian’s Wonderland Pier in 2005 and was named Wacky Worm. It was removed in 2010, and installed at Gillian’s FunLand in Sea Isle City, NJ for the 2011 season. It retained the name Wacky Worm, and stayed in New Jersey through the 2013 season, before it was removed and sold to Alabama Splash Adventure. Alabama Splash Adventure renamed the ride Centi-SPEED, and added Centi-SPEED signage. Ironically the station platform still says Wacky Worm along the bottom where young riders would approach the staircase.
This coaster is a typical model that is used at many parks and it has a whimsically detailed train in the shape of a worm. Like other models there are decorations and embellishments built onto the structure like flowers, and lights that have the shape of plants. The missing element that is typically seen on these types of coasters is a large apple, on Centi-SPEED this is omitted. This gentle ride has a stacked figure eight layout and is a great first roller coaster for Alabama’s younger thrill seekers. |
