Specific Type: Enclosed
Located in the French-themed section of Germany’s largest amusement park, Europa Park is a large, silver spherical building. Enclosed within this shiny dome is Eurosat, a unique roller coaster with a spiral lift hill and many twists and turns.
Eurosat is contained within a large dome which is actually a scaled-down version of the Spaceship Earth building at Epcot. It has been decorated in the past. For halloween, the entire dome was covered over to look like a giant pumpkin. The ride was also decorated as a giant football and a large Christmas parcel.
Eurosat is themed around a space mission. The main queue for Eurosat is located outside the dome and riders are allowed to enter in limited numbers. Upon entering guests travel on an escalator upwards, passing an animatronic robot and a moon-rover scene. A curved walkway follows where more space scenes are passed before leading into the station.
Upon leaving the station the car attaches to a central shaft and is pulled up the spiral lift hill slowly. Upon reaching the top, the car is dispatched. What follows is a series of curved drops and turns as the ride travels downwards inside the dome. Throughout the ride, lighting effects take place and models of planets light up. The official soundtrack to Eurosat is played in the background, adding to the fantastic ride experience.
