There is a seven story reason to visit the Rockville section of Six Flags New England, and it is a rockin’ hot rod inspired giant looping coaster called Fireball. Installed for the 2016 season this coaster started an instant controversy, when it was announced as the park’s next roller coaster, with many doubting if this unconventional ride should be counted as a roller coaster. No matter which side of the argument you land on this giant looper has been a presence and is spinning thrill seeker around the 360 degree track. The trains feature a different face to face seating arrangement where each row faces the opposite direction. This gives riders the choice of facing their friends as they go around or sitting next to them. The ride starts with a sensation similar to a pendulum ride rocking back and forth gaining momentum. Each ride has the potential to be different as the ride operator controls the action and direction with a joystick, the ride can even be stopped upside down and the direction can be reversed. So is it a roller coaster? Why not try it out and decide.
