Great Pumpkin Coaster

In the late 1990’s E&F Miler Industries were tapped to make a series of kid friendly roller coasters for the chain of Paramount Parks, that are now owned by Cedar Fair. In 1997 Kings Dominion installed Taxi Jam in their KidZville section as part of the transformation from Hanna-Barbera. Taxi Jam featured a small oval layout and was themed to an out of control taxi ride, but in 2013 the ride was rethemed to Peanuts by new owners Cedar Fair. The ride was named Great Pumpkin Coaster and the KidZville section was taken over by Planet Snoopy.
Young thrill seekers enter the station and choose a seat in one of the 6 cars on the train. This ride has a 40” height requirement or youngsters may ride with an adult, an adult may not ride without a kid. The train leaves the station and climbs the chain lift hill. Once it reaches the top it glides down the eight foot drop banking to the right. The coaster bounds over two airtime hills that bring it to the other end of the layout where the track goes through the mouth of the Great Pumpkin. Another banked turn and bunny hop points the train back towards the station, but it doesn’t stop. The train rolls right through and back onto the lift hill for a second lap. When the ride is over the young riders depart wishing they were taller now to experience the other roller coasters at Kings Dominion. |
