Universal Studios Florida has always been a themepark dedicated to classic films mixed with innovative attractions. From the far away reaches of Revenge of The Mummy, to the funny antics of The Simpsons Ride, Universal Studios Florida has carved out it’s name on the themepark industry. However, one coaster stands out as it takes on the story out of a fantasy movie series, and innovative coaster technology. Harry Potter And The Escape From Gringotts has become a staple coaster on the Universal Studios Florida property, partly due to the larger than life dragon spewing fire from atop of the building, but mainly due to the innovation of a popular movie franchise. This coaster engulfs riders into the world of Harry Potter, while also giving a taste of the movie franchise in whole. Do you dare to take on this witchcraft of a coaster?
Harry Potter And The Escape From Gringotts starts riders with the story and theme from the start as the iconic dragon of the fantasy bank spews fire from atop of the building. Going through the queue, riders are immersed into the story of Harry Potter, and the lore of the bank in the Harry Potter series. Once riders enter the coaster cars to go into the bank, it instantly goes wrong. Meeting Harry Potter and a banker, sirens sound and Bellatrix, a villain, along with other bankers cast riders plummeting into the bank. This sends riders down the first drop into a right turn, meandering into a cavern setting. Being stopped, riders are introduced to various Harry Potter characters, and soon after stopped when guards attack the characters and thus sending riders even further into the bank. Going through the cavern and under track riders spin into an attack from the guards yet again. When one of these guards falls, along with the riders by the screenplay, the car is grabbed by a wizard, only to be interrupted with the dragon. Again, riders are pushed forward into the bank passing vaults similar to those found in the movies. Guided by a banker to move into a room, riders are soon met with an exploding wall. A snake reaches out, only to be followed by Bellatrix and Voldemort, who is another main enemy in the Harry Potter series. Searching for Harry Potter, Voldemort sends riders spinning into a cavern lit by lava. When Voldemort almost singes the riders with a fire spell, Harry Potter and the rest come in by the dragon and begin to battle Voldemort and Bellatrix. Once this battle is fought, riders are launched into a few curves into the next scene. The characters end out the ride by bidding goodbyes and continuing on with the story that is found in Harry Potter, as riders finally arrive back into the station. The beauty of Harry Potter And The Escape From Gringotts is the blend of the coaster portions and the dark ride experience. Even though this coaster focuses more on the dark ride experience, it still uses the coaster elements to use innovation like spinning and launches to simulate the whimsical wizardry found in the Harry Potter series. The next time that you find yourself in Universal Studios Florida, step into Gringotts and experience the wizardry only found on Harry Potter And The Escape From Gringotts. |
