Hong Kong DisneylandLocation: Hong Kong

Located in Penny’s Bay on Lantau Island in Hong Kong stands Hong Kong’s gem theme park named Hong Kong Disneyland. Although the smallest Disney park out of any Disney park, it still provides something for everyone who visits. The park has two hotels for the resort; Disney’s Hollywood Hotel and Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. In August 1998, the Walt Disney Company and the government of Hong Kong announced their intentions to construct a themed entertainment park in Hong Kong. Construction did not begin on the park until 2003 but, the park has continued to grow each and every year. The layout of Hong Kong Disneyland is very similar to that of Disneyland in California so making your way around will not be difficult if you have been to Disneyland before.
The Park officially opened to the public on September 12, 2005. The park opened with four lands Main Street, U.S.A., Adventureland, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. Space Mountain served as the park’s only roller coaster until 2011 when Toy Story Land opened with the addition of RC Racer. Three new lands have since been added to the park since it has opened. Toy Story Land, which opened in 2011, is only found in Hong Kong Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios Park. On July 14, 2012 the new Grizzly Gulch land opened. Mystic Point opened in May 2013 with a unique ride Mystic Manor that has a haunted Mansion theme to it but it is different. There is still more land to develop on. Hong Kong Disneyland and the Government of Hong Kong are still talking about building another park right next to Hong Kong Disneyland. Currently, the government of Hong Kong owns 52% of the park and resort and Disney owns 48% of the park and resort. The next time you are in Asia and looking for an adventure line no other, plan a trip to Disneyland Hong Kong. It may not be like the ones in the states, but dreams can still come true. |
