Orlando, Florida is known as one of the thrill and entertainment capitals of the world and right in the middle of that excitement is Sea World Orlando. Known for other rides like the famous Manta flying coaster, Sea World expanded its coaster lineup once again with the building of Mako. Sea World claims to have built the longest tallest and fastest coaster in the Orlando area. Mako is a steel hyper-coaster that was built by Bolliger & Mabillard. The coaster was built next to the shark encounter aquarium and other attractions. Sea World wanted to theme the coaster after the fastest shark in the ocean; the mako.
Mako hoists riders up a 200 foot tall lift hill and drops them straight back down 200 feet at speeds of 73 miles per hour. Mako twists and glides over 4,760 feet of track all painted in that pristine ocean blue and teal color. The coaster features elements like a 115 foot tall airtime hill, an obvious hammerhead turn, camelback hill, and loads of track over the water. The coaster is your typical hyper-coaster from B&M with lots of airtime, a smooth ride, and a great train that is painted to look like a mako shark. The restraints are the typical clam shell which rounds out the ocean theme. When in Florida, do as the sharks do and ride Mako |
