Specific Type: Family Launched Coaster
|
Motocoaster at Dreamworld in Queensland Australia is a launched motorbike coaster built by Intamin. It was the first of it’s kind when it debuted September 30th 2007. The trains resemble motorbikes & sidecars. The 55 second ride covers 1,985 feet of track with a the highest point being 23 feet at a top speed of 45 mph. Each train accommodate up to 16 people. Riders must be 51” tall to ride on a motorcycle while those between 43” and 51” can ride in a sidecar.
The ride is, of course, themed to motorcycle racing. Mick Doohan, a popular Australian motorcyclist, endorses the coaster and his name is used to market the ride. There are decorations throughout the queue line with information on the history of motorcycle racing. Once given the all clear, the train launches out of the station reaching its top speed of 45 mph in just 2 seconds. After a banked right turn, the ride reaches its highest point before twisting back to the left. Next comes a bunny hill before hitting a series of twists and turns before hitting another bunny hill that leads to the final brake run. |
