Revenge means the action of inflicting hurt or harm on someone for an injury or wrong suffered at their hands. But just who is going to get their revenge at Universal Singapore’s Revenge of the Mummy is unclear. Will you be the hero or will the villain Imhotep enact revenge on you? The roller coaster was designed by Premier, a company known for their launch coasters, and the theming was done by Adirondack Studios, ITEC Entertainment Corp. and Universal Creative. Just like Universal’s tag line this coaster allows Revenge of the Mummy fans to ride the movie. The coaster is totally enclosed and is a combination dark ride and multi-launch roller coaster.
The ride experience starts before you even enter the queue. Guests begin by entering an Egyptian tomb, and it is large, several stories tall, and ornately decorated with hieroglyphs & statutes. Once inside guest explore the tomb full of paintings depicting the Imhotep’s life and props from the movie. Once guest reach the station they board trains that are styled to look like a mine train. The trains consist of two cars, each car has two rows of four. The ride starts with a slow dark ride section where the train meanders through the various scenes that tell the story. The special effects include projections, fire, animatronics, and specialized lighting built into the live scenery. The coaster portion of the ride consists of mainly banked turns, and the signature feature are three 40 MPH launches in the dark. The lighting and darkness of the tomb will have riders confused about what direction they are heading. The story does have a conclusion, but who will triumph you or the mummy?
